Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky International Airport (Elizovo) (managed by Airports of Regions MC) has added two Schmidt CJS plough-brush machines to its fleet of special vehicles. The new machinery is used for operational maintenance of the airfield’s runway, taxiways and apron.
Schmidt CJS is equipped with a removable snow blade (large hook-on bucket), cylindrical broom and blower, allowing the vehicles to be used all year round. In winter they are indispensable in clearing the snow cover, while in warmer times they are used for drying and air-blowing of airfield surfaces. The new German machines are compact in size, highly manoeuvrable and impressively productive.
Taking into account the difficult climatic conditions in the Kamchatka region, the new plough-brush machines will reduce airfield’s cleaning time, which will positively impact the operational efficiency of Elizovo’s airfield service and the general level of airfield upkeep. The new machinery has been procured due to the investment programme implemented by Airports of Regions MC to upgrade the infrastructure of Kamchatka’s main airport.
