General Contractor for Building a New Passenger Terminal at Elizovo Airport in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky Has Been Named

CROCUS INTERNATIONAL, JSC has been chosen as general contractor for the construction of a new passenger terminal at Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky (Elizovo) international airport. The new terminal of the airport in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky is built within the agreement between Kamchatka Development Corporation and Airports of Regions, MC.

The largest facility of the new air hub will be a 40,000-sqm+ building of a new passenger terminal for domestic and international airlines that will also comprise a hotel. The new terminal will be equipped with four boarding bridges. Short-term and long-term parking lots will be fashioned in the nearby square with total capacity in excess of 940 vehicle spaces. The new terminal’s throughput capacity will amount to 1.5 million passengers a year. The passenger terminal under construction boasts a unique architecture, the building’s shape being reminiscent of a volcano cauldron. What’s more, the building’s technological and structural solutions will be realized in challenging climatic and seismic conditions of Kamchatka.

In addition, an administration building and an engineering facility will be built as part of the project. All in all this will be a design & build project. Its completion is scheduled for summer 2023 and already in August the first passenger flight must be launched from the new terminal.

CROCUS INTERNATIONAL, JSC is one of Russia’s leading and biggest development companies. The total area of its completed projects exceeds 6 million sq. m. As general contractor, this company was in charge of building major national projects, such as the buildings of Far East Federal University with the total area of 948,000 sq. m in Russky Island (Primorsky Territory) along with transport, civil engineering and sports infrastructural facilities of national significance.

Elizovo airport is the only international airport in Kamchatka Territory, so its modernization is critically important for socioeconomic development of the region and an essential condition for tourism development. The airport revamping will not only increase its throughput capacity, but will also enhance the passenger service quality to match modern international standards and will increase transport safety and security.
