A tactile mnemonic circuit and a hearing induction loop have been installed at Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky (Elizovo) international airport. The tactile mnemonic is installed in the entrance lobby of the passenger terminal before the inspection area, representing a map of the terminal with optimal paths suggested. Inscriptions on the mnemonic circuit are duplicated in Braille to help vision-impaired passengers find their way around the terminal and move along the optimal paths as well as to locate the key services: check-in and enquiry counters, public bathrooms, baggage packaging services, entry to the preflight inspection area, etc.
There is also an induction loop installed at Elizovo airport for hearing-impaired passengers. The induction loop is a sound frequency amplifier. This special equipment is meant for passengers using hearing kits. The induction loop ensures comfortable communication with employees of the airport’s enquiry service as well as the listening of audio information under high ambient noise levels. The equipment is placed at the enquiry counter on the ground floor where the airport employees may provide the information sought and call an agent from the transport management service for low mobility passengers.
We should remind that a special group providing services for people with disabilities is available at the airport. Agents ensure their fastest possible and comfortable passing of all formalities (check-in, preflight inspection, baggage drop-off and claim), meeting passengers upon their arrival in the airport, accompanying them inside the terminal and helping them board the plane as well as facilitating their disembarkation after landing.
