In line with the project delivery schedule, preparations have commenced for the construction of a new passenger terminal at Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky (Elizovo) international airport (managed by Airports of Regions MC).
Contracting officers of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky (Elizovo) international airport and CROCUS INTERNATIONAL, JSC have signed papers on the construction site transfer to the general contractor. The next step will be installing essential on-site amenities, personnel recruitment, construction machinery supply, and the beginning of works.
In the months to come they’ll start building various amenities on the site including temporary storage and industrial facilities, special spaces for storing building materials and specialized vehicles, hostels, etc. The area of this provisional town will exceed 800 sq. m.
Keeping complicated Kamchatka logistics in mind, the general contractor has already arranged the delivery of construction machinery. The arrival of machinery driving rubble piles is scheduled for Q1 2021. At the initial stage of construction this is an important part of works, since rubble piles improve the load-bearing performance of the earth foundation which is particularly relevant given the seismic profile of Kamchatka.
Just to remind: the largest facility of the air hub under construction will be a new building of the passenger terminal for domestic and international flights, also featuring a 47,000-sqm hotel. What’s more, an administration building and an engineering facility will be built within this project. The air hub construction endeavor will be realized as a design & build project.
The construction of a new passenger terminal at the airport of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky is carried out within the framework of an agreement between Kamchatka Development Corporation and Airports of Regions MC, with CROCUS INTERNATIONAL, JSC contracted as the general contractor. The construction works on a new terminal are due to be completed in August 2023.
